In each bedroom at the Ronald House is a very special book. It’s a journal. In this journal, families who visit can leave thoughts or messages. They can share stories of their experiences, their struggles, their joys and their thanks. These notes are a gentle way to let others know that they are not alone, and to give hope to families facing some of the most difficult days of their lives.

"A week ago today my daughter was brought in to Albany Medical Center after being run over by a mini-van. She is only eight years old and weighs only 50 pounds. I knew a little about the Ronald McDonald House but had no idea how the organization worked. I met woman at the hospital who was staying at the House and she helped me out. When I arrived at the Ronald House I had only what was on my back and no money in my pockets. The Ronald McDonald House took me in and made me feel like I was Family. It really has been “a home away from home”. All the people I met here, staff included, were nothing but nice. To be able to sleep and know that at any time, I can go back to my daughter at Albany Medical Center lifted a huge burden. Just knowing that if I woke up at 1AM, I could go back and be by her side was a comfort. I hope and pray that I never have to come back, but knowing that there are Ronald McDonald Houses out there is a major comfort. To all that read this, please know that there are so many families praying for you. I for one will never forget this place and will pray for all the families that come after we are back home.”

“After a long day in a sterile hospital, it was so refreshing to shuttle over to your beautiful oasis. You could feel the love in the walls of Ronald’s House. There are some things I won’t ever forget such as, chatting with a new friend in the piano room until 3:00am, hot dinners, and the hospitality you shared with everyone.”
The Megna Family

My nephew Jake F. Young who just turned 5 years old had a short stay in the NICU. But thanks to your wonderful care all turned out well. You helped our family get through a difficult time and made us feel very at ease… Jake is a happy and healthy young boy, he has just started school. So thank you again for helping all the families feel as much comfort as possible-I hope you continue in your work.
Sincerely, the Young Family

Thank you all so much for letting us stay here so that we could be close to our son during his stay at Albany Medical. When Darren was 5 days old, he got Meningitis and was put on Antibiotics and 2 weeks later was able to go home! Thank you so so much for everything!
